Impressive work. I knew a few of those references, but the breadth of the list makes it more fun.

Thank you. Took a lot of dictionary searching.

This was great! I've lived through that development of Kum Ba Ya from meaning a positive, comforting, getting together, to today's current scornful dismissal of enforced closeness.

I did NOT know the origin of Mullet, and after listening to the Beastie Boys sing the song, all I can say is that I'll have to trust you on that.

I didn't know that Stan's origin, either.

I wasn't sure that Spam was originally computer slang. An aside: I have lived in both Alaska and Minnesota, both massive Spam states (not as massive as Hawaii, but second & third), and the State Fairs for reach state had really fun Spam contests. The actual, original product name was called Spam as a contraction of the words Spiced Ham. The product was developed in 1936, and in WWII, the Brits relied very heavily on Spam as a source of protein that would not need refrigeration. Hence the concept of "I don't like Spam!"

Slightly related: you didn't tell us what “Les haricots sont pas salés" means, so I looked it up. Another food-related thing! It means "the beans have no salt." Which is a very sad meal!

Thanks for all your research!
