Q and not U!

What a great reminder of a band I used to listen to a ton and haven't gone back to in many years. Feels like a problem of having *so much stuff* available these days...you lose track of things once they fall off your radar. Thanks for the reminder to go back to an old favourite.

The reason why "Cum on feel the noize" is the only highlight on that Quit Riot album is that it is a song by Slade, a far superior group in every way. :)

Yes! Slade’s original rips

I feel like there was a big fall-off in the quality of R&B music from the 70s to the 80s which didn't fully recover until neo-soul starts to take off in the mid-90s. Still lots of 80s R&B that I enjoy of course, but 70s style Funk/R&B/Soul is possibly my favorite genre and it really struggled with the transition to the synth and drum machine era, New Jack Swing notwithstanding.

Hmm. How about the epic ballad The Secret Garden, on Jones' next album?

I do find the slick smooth jazz poppiness of a lot of 80s R&B ballads (well, 80s R&B in general, I guess) to be bland, but there's a lot outside of that box (and I love some stuff within that box, how about Saving All My Love for You?). My favorites come from Jam & Lewis (such as Can You Stand the Rain and Come Back to Me). Prince ballads are their own thing. I wasn't crazy about songs such as Do Me Baby and The Beautiful Ones until I heard live versions and they really clicked.

I took a class in college called Math.

Also don’t act like our rankings were drastically different this is so close to what I sent

But I bet you didn’t enjoy “math”
