I've never heard “Merry Go 'Round” by Kacey Musgraves. But I would love to re-hear Merry Go Round by Wild Man Fischer for the first time! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qysWprQrfiU

Some proportion of artists are only credited as writers because they insist on it, whether they did any writing or not. Presumably only top artists can do this, but still.

To be fair, Donny Osmond was only thirteen when he released his version of "Go Away Little Girl." So in his case, he's literally addressing a little girl. It's a much more charming and innocent song when you hear it that way.

Totally. And even the original the intent wasn’t to be creepy. Carole King and Gerry Goffin wrote it. Still, without the context I’ve never found it to be an enjoyable listen

Thanks for including my question Chris. The rule that Reddit mentions doesn't seem to be enforced these days. For instance, Bad Bunny's song EOO has been on the Hot 100 for 23 weeks yet only peaked at number 24. Indigo by Sam Barber featuring Avery Anna has been on the chart for 29 weeks yet only peaked at number 40! The Marias' No One Noticed peaked at 22 and has been on the charts for 39 weeks! Shaboozey's Good News peaked at 30 yet has been on the charts for 31 weeks. There are at least a couple more. I wonder if record companies are paying Billboard to keep songs on the charts in case there is some kind of resurgence for that song. It also makes me wonder how many other rules Billboard no longer seems to abide by.

I always felt the song Your Love by The Outfield is super icky/creepy as well. There is an all women band in Mpls that does a yearly show of misogynistic songs.
